Sherry Finished Rye
Batch 1
After my second batch of Midwinter’s, I decided to try a Sherry finished Rye to go along with my Bourbon. Again, one of the main goals was to use cheaper whiskey and attempt to improve it’s base taste.
Yet again, I finishing the same 2L barrel with Taylor Cream Sherry for 42 days. I then added 750ml of Templeton 6yr Rye and 1250ml of Wild Turkey 101 Rye. I aged this blend for 13 days and it came out at 97.6 proof.
I prefer my bourbon blend, but so far it’s about a 50/50 split for those that have tried both.
