Sherry Finished Bourbon
Batch 1
After the success of my Midwinter’s, I decided to try a Sherry finished Bourbon. One main goal for this batch was to use cheaper whiskey and attempt to improve it’s base taste.
I personally don’t care for Bulleit Bourbon, but it’s a great value! So after finishing the same 2L barrel with Taylor Cream Sherry for 49 days, I added a handle of Bulleit Bourbon to it. I then decided to top off the barrel with one of my favorite inexpensive whiskeys, Early Times Bottled in Bond (plastic cap version). This blend only took 6 days to inherit the Sherry’s flavors and came out at 91.7 proof. The resulting whiskey is sweet and fruity and I personally feel is superior to the sum of it’s parts.
